Decaf without compromise

What makes our decaf coffee beans different

Decaf coffee beans should still deliver full flavour, balance and consistency, and that's exactly what our Decaf Colombia is designed to do. Using the premium sugar cane decaffeination process, the caffeine is gently removed while preserving natural sweetness, body and flavour.

Grown at ~1,250 m in Colombia, washed process, 86/100 cupping score, then roasted fresh in Melbourne. This is premium decaf coffee, not an afterthought.

100% natural decaffeination

How the sugar cane decaf process works

Naturally derived ethyl acetate from fermented sugar cane removes the caffeine gently, without the harsh solvents used in cheap commercial decaf.

Why we use the sugar cane process

Most cheap decaf strips flavour along with the caffeine. The sugar cane process is different: it's natural, gentle and keeps the coffee tasting like coffee.

100% natural

Naturally derived from fermented sugar cane. No harsh chemical solvents.

Flavour preserved

Sweetness, body and origin character survive the process intact.

99.9% caffeine free

Enjoy espresso at 9 pm. Only trace caffeine remains.

Specialty grade

An 86/100 cupping score. Most decaf never gets scored at all.

Decaf coffee beans FAQs

Will your decaf coffee still feel like drinking normal coffee?

Yes. Because the sugar cane process preserves the coffee's natural sweetness, body and flavour, our Decaf Colombia tastes and feels like a regular specialty espresso. Most people can't pick it as decaf.

Do your decaf coffee beans still contain caffeine?

Only a trace. The sugar cane process removes around 99.9% of the caffeine, so a cup contains roughly 2-5 mg compared to 80-120 mg in regular coffee. Perfect for evenings or anyone cutting back.

Does your decaf coffee use chemicals?

No. Our Decaf Colombia uses a premium natural sugar cane decaffeination process to gently remove the caffeine while preserving flavour, body and sweetness. It avoids the harsh synthetic solvents used in cheap commercial decaf.

Which grind should I choose?

Choose whole beans if you have a grinder (freshest option), espresso grind for espresso machines, and filter grind for pour over, plunger or drip brewers.

How fresh are the beans when they arrive?

We roast to order in our Melbourne roastery, so your beans typically ship within a day or two of roasting and arrive within 2-3 business days for most metro areas.

How does the subscription work?

Pick your grind, size and delivery frequency, and save 20% on every order. You can pause, skip or cancel from your account after your first recurring order. Orders over $100 ship free.
